im trying to have the optical output work for me
i have the sound card outputting through the 3.5mm optical jack with a mini toslink adapter so that the digital optical runs from it to a optical switcher
so far i havent been able to configure the sound correctly
a person here said that the vlc player works with 5.1 sound and so far using it to test out stuff, i havent been able to successfully output in 5.1 sound
the only things i've been trying to deal with is the program that comes with the card (though the program looks diff from the pics they have of it) and the sound configuration on on the sound playback settings
the digital output setting (on playback settings) doesnt have a configuration option and only transmits in 2 outputs
the configuration of speakers (for the sound card on the playback settings) is wat i've mainly been playing with along with the program provided
when i set the configuration to 5.1 sound and the program to 6 channels output, on the program the left and right front speakers work, but it doesnt make a sound on any of the other speakers i click on (same with the playback configuration, only the left and right front works, while no sound is coming out of the others)
with the playback configuration set to 5.1 sound, and the program set to 4 speakers, as usual the program says only the 2 front are working, while on the playback configuration, it shows that sound is getting through to the front speakers, center, and subwoofer (but still no response from the 2 surround speakers)
with the playback configuration set to 5.1 sound, and the program set to 2 speakers, the program still recognizes the 2 front speakers, while on the playback configuration, the 2 front speakers, center, and subwoofer function properly, but the left surround speaker test sound comes out of the front left speaker and the right surround speaker test comes out the front right (while the 2 surround speakers itself still dont respond)
i've been literally playing and testing around the speakers, sound card, and stuff to try to get it to function properly for the last 6hrs, but no luck
(the 5.1 sound on the movie channels on the hd receiver for satellite tv says that the av receiver is working properly so it isnt the fault on the receiver's end)
